Вернёмся к тому внедорожнику, который мы оставили на вершине скользкого холма. Чтобы выпутаться из этой ситуации, необходимо иметь либо недюжинный опыт в вождении полноприводной машины в сложных условиях, либо кнопку CrawlControl. Эта технология уже применяется на 200-м Круизере и на Лексусе LX570, но едва ли она будет востребована именно в этих двух автомобилях. Не так часто они видят настоящую грязь и безвыходные ситуации. Активируя функцию СС, можно просто покрепче вцепиться в руль, убрать ногу с педали тормоза и полностью довериться компании Тойота. Компьютер автоматически отрегулирует степень открытия дроссельной заслонки, вычислит необходимый крутящий момент для каждого из колес в реальном времени, обеспечит максимально возможное зацепление с поверхностью без намёка на пробуксовку. Но это совсем не значит, что водитель в это время должен расслабляться и рассматривать пейзажи за окном. Его задача — направить автомобиль по самой безопасной траектории и полностью сконцентрироваться на руле.

Есть ли смысл внедрять такую технологичную и дорогую систему в обычный автомобиль далеко не премиального сегмента? В компании говорят, что именно для этого система и была разработана, а на дорогих внедорожниках она просто окупает своё существование. Очень мудро, как нам кажется.

Поэтому «внедорожность» у этого SUV — в крови. Конечно, некоторые элементы дизайна могут выглядеть знакомо — капот, головная оптика, некоторые элементы салона, это следствие того, что у Toyota 4Runner одна платформа с FJ Cruiser.

Строгая и современная центральная консоль

Это значит, что передняя подвеска собрана на сдвоенном треугольном рычаге, расположенном поперек, классических амортизаторах и винтовых пружинах. Задняя подвеска также осталась независимой многорычажной с тягой Панара. Интересно решено размещение задних амортизаторов — они вынесены далеко за пределы рамы, чтобы была возможность обуздать жёсткий мост и чётко его контролировать. Как опция, предлагается система гидравлических стабилизаторов поперечной устойчивости, также уже обкатанная на дорогих Лексусах, система кинетической стабилизации. Гидравлика позволяет контролировать положение кузова автомобиля на скоростях выше 50 км/ч. Ниже этой отметки система отключается для того, чтобы водитель получал объективную информацию о состоянии поверхности и положении кузова. Система же кинетической стабилизации, KDSS, не отключается автоматически, но работает она просто великолепно. Как на асфальте, так и в грязи. На просёлке и вне дорог система позволяет получить максимальный контакт покрышки с поверхностью на любой скорости, а на асфальте, в паре с новым рулевым управлением, система помогает вписывать в повороты рамный внедорожник на высокой скорости и при этом проглатывать неровности мягко и незаметно.

К счастью, у японцев хватило мудрости не вносить никаких генетических модификаций в конструкцию идеального внедорожника. Идеологически, это тот же автомобиль, который получился в начале 80-х, когда на пикап начали устанавливать пластиковый колпак. Дешево, практично и выглядело неплохо. Если ещё учесть, что основным рынком сбыта Toyota 4Runner были Штаты и Канада с их любовью к машинам с кузовами, то для небогатого фермера или торговца средней руки такая машина была находкой. Цена внедорожника в Штатах чуть не доходит до метки $40 000, правда, это касается уже новой модели, рестайлингового Toyota 4Runner 2016-2017 года, которых у нас пока практически нет.

Он грубый и неотесанный, он ворчливый и не слишком приветливый на вид. Особенно после рестайлинга. В 2014 году автомобиль получил новую оптику с линзами, новую решётку радиатора, спрятанную за мощный бампер-отбойник, как опция доступны даже 20-дюймовые внедорожные колеса. Смотреть приятно. Очень впечатляющий внедорожник. Сзади новые фонари с полностью измененной конфигурацией, спереди и сзади на бамперах накладки в нижней части, словом подтянули внешность работяги под стандарт, а кроме этого в салоне появилось масса новых фишек. Теперь автомобиль может быть как пятиместным, так и семиместным, передняя панель полностью перерисована, доисторические колодцы приборов сменились современной панелью с LCD дисплеем бортового компьютера.

Совсем по-другому стала выглядеть центральная консоль. На ней симметрично распределены кнопки и ручки управления климатом и мультимедийкой, по центру, как положено, восьмидюймовый тачскрин (в каждой из комплектаций), возле селектора КПП — ручка управления режимами трансмиссии. Салон получил совершенно непромокаемые отделочные материалы, новое оборудование, но от синей щели над консолью избавиться, похоже, не судьба. Это монохромный экран, который показывает, как в начале 90-х, атмосферное давление, температуру воздуха, словом, все то, что можно узнать с помощью дисплея мультимедийной системы и встроенного штатного навигатора.

Он грубый, ворчливый и неотесанный

Toyota 4Runner можно купить в Штатах и в Канаде в трёх комплектациях — SR5, Limited, Trail. В первых двух в багажнике будет установлен третий ряд сидений, не самый полезный, но иногда просто необходимый. Зато задний диван может раскладываться в пропорции 40-20-40, а угол наклона каждой из спинок можно регулировать в достаточно широких пределах. Комплектация Лимитед отличается от остальных не сильно. Там будет:

• климат контроль на три зоны;
• отделка сидений натуральной кожей;
• улучшенный навигатор;
• премиальная аудиосистема JBL;
• бесключевой доступ;
• пуск двигателя с кнопки.

Если кому покажется мало, то в подразделении TRD приготовили спецверсию Toyota 4Runner TRD PRO для бездорожья. На фото эту комплектацию можно отличить по характерной для ТРД окраске. Это фирменный цвет, который меняет оттенок в зависимости от угла падения света и может быть как ярко-розовым, так и алым. К чему такая яркость? Тут надо учитывать специфику рынка. В США рамных внедорожников — пруд пруди, а Toyota 4Runner ещё никогда не получал спецверсию от TRD в отличие от тойотовских пикапов. Поэтому пришлось выделить комплектацию не только техническими характеристиками, особыми запчастями и внедорожными качествами, но и цветом. На этой версии внедорожника установлена резина Nitto TerraGrappler диаметром 31,5 дюйма, но установили её на литые 17-дюймовые диски. Подвеска полностью перенастроена, а все амортизаторы заменены на тюнинг комплект от Бильштейн. В результате клиренс вырос на 32 мм, соответственно, изменились и углы въезда-съезда. Салон остался практически стоковым, от комплектации Лимитед, за исключением красной прострочки сидений. Цена комплектации Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro выше топовой на 1800 долларов. Автомобили в этой версии будут продаваться только на рынке США.

Первое поколение это только двухдверная машина с жестким съемным верхом, имелось всего 2 модификации — одна двухместная, а сзади площадка для грузов.

Вторая модификация пятиместная и более длинная, а места под груз поменьше. Фактически машина была ориентирована на американский рынок.
